The American middle and working classes are maintaining their lifestyle on a foundation of quicksand (debt they cannot afford). If current indicators are correct it is quite possible that the entire US economy will sink into the debt that the middle and working class have developed over the last twenty years." This is not a very ‘stimulating' environment. No wonder most Americans think the country is going in the wrong direction and have lost confidence in the economy. No wonder, crime is rising along with foreclosures. Let's not forget the wars that are also draining the economy, growing the deficit and pouring billions of dollars and so many lives into a rat hole without end. So, please candidates, loose the cheery rhetoric of economic stimulus. Do nothing about the debt burden and you do nothing.
Phoenix plants to produce biodiesel from cooking oil
Eating fried chicken wings and french fries might not clean out your arteries, but it actually could help clean up the air, now that two local companies are transforming waste cooking oil from local restaurants into diesel fuel. Amereco Biofuels Corp. expects its first deliveries this month to commercial customers in Tucson and Las Vegas, said Bill Sheaffer, executive vice president of marketing for the plant, located west of Phoenix in the town of Arlington. And soon Chandler-based AZ BioDiesel expects to pass fuel-testing standards and begin production, said Christopher Rees, vice president of sales and marketing. .

Thriller makes 'Point' in snappy style
"Vantage Point" is three-fourths of a terrific thriller, which in this dreary run of winter movies seemed like clear spring water to this parched traveler. The setup is so riveting, the suspense so carefully prolonged, that I didn't mind when it unraveled into lunacy near the end. To reveal plot points would be to do you and the film a disservice. Suffice to say that the story links a U.S. president at an anti-terrorist summit in Spain (William Hurt), a Secret Service agent fighting off a nervous breakdown (Dennis Quaid), a Spaniard who may or may not be a clean cop (Eduardo Noriega), a U.S. tourist with an all-seeing camera (Forest Whitaker), a special forces agent forced into aiding bombers to protect his brother (Edgar Ramirez) and half a dozen minor players. The story is told as deja vu vu vu vu vu: We see the long opening scene six times, from different peoples' viewpoints.
