| Shorter menu could be big for Mt. Pleasant pizza eatery
With Andolini's, Bacco, Iacofano's Deli and Pizzeria, Pasta Grille, Sette, and now La Pizzeria, it is easy to satisfy your appetite for most things Italian. La Pizzeria is in a strip mall shopping center at Coleman and Houston Northcutt boulevards in a space formerly occupied by a pizza restaurant. The new owners have spruced up the place by enclosing a narrow side patio, adding mood lighting by way of an odd assortment of stringed lights, dried flowers and plastic tablecloths. It straddles the crossroads of eat-in and carry-out design. There is a tall counter where you can place your order to go. Outdoor seating, a few tables in the front of the restaurant and the side patio provide table service. A chalkboard lists the daily specials (which could include an appetizer, pizza, panini, pasta or dessert) along with a pasta menu of baked ziti with Bolognese sauce, lasagna, gnocchi with a Gorgonzola sauce or a red sauce in the style of Sorrento.

Melting ice gives D.M. water lousy flavor
Stubborn river ice has made conditions perfect for an annual rite of late winter in Des Moines: lousy tasting water. Des Moines Water Works officials have been forced to pump more chlorine into tap water to counter high ammonia levels in the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers, two major sources of drinking water. Randy Beavers, interim general manager of the utility, said the problem is the leaves and other plant material that decompose in the rivers when they are covered with ice. .
Centre agrees to speed up clearances
The Centre today agreed to speed up clearances for the Mohali airport and will consider positively the states plea for allowing civil terminals at Adampur and Bhisiana (Bathinda) airports. While Bathinda air link assumes significance in the light of the work on Guru Gobind Singh Refinery gaining momentum and the setting up of a cricket stadium there, the state is also renewing efforts to get a civilian terminal at Adampur in Doaba for NRIs. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today called on union defence minister A.K. Antony in this connection in New Delhi and urged him to ensure an early issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) with regard to the international airport. The Chief Minister also sought the Defence Ministry's go ahead for the extension of the runway to 10,500 feet, building of a parallel taxi-way and shifting of the missile site.
