Dwell on four things — spiritual life, family, work and physical fitness — for good balance. "If you think about these things routinely and try to make them central to your life, this makes you more successful and happy," Stabler said. "It will make you less likely to crash and burn." As Northrop Grumman Newport News’ vice president in charge of the George H.W. Bush carrier construction, the biggest job project now underway at the yard, Stabler advises his management team and workers not to let the job crowd out everything else. .

JANE ANN MORRISON: New watchdog of government ethics continues ...
When Craig Walton died in October, there was concern the Nevada Center for Public Ethics he founded might wither from neglect. But a core group of 45 people who care deeply about ethics have committed to keep it going, and Julie Tousa, a graduate of UNLV's Ethics and Policy Studies master's program under Walton, is the acting president. It's a make or break time for the center, but with no shortage of ethical issues in Las Vegas, Tousa already has been answering news media calls about questionable ethics. When the Las Vegas Sun reported the dirty details of Las Vegas City Council members' "special events" expenses, Tousa questioned the propriety of council members using government money to promote themselves. .
Auto GM to Showcase Flex-fuel, Car-based Hybrid Pickup Concept in ...
All auto manufacturers are thinking "green" these days and many will showcase their fuel-efficient vehicles at the upcoming 2008 Chicago Auto Show. In this age of broken embargos and leaked specifications, it comes as no surprise that one of GM's vehicles to be showcased at the show was leaked early. The new GMC Denali XT Concept is based on the same Zeta platform that forms the basis of the upcoming Pontiac G8 sedan and Chevy Camaro. The low-slung concept features a fully-independent front and rear suspension, 23" wheels and a 55" bed with Midgate. The Midgate feature -- similar in concept to the Chevrolet Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT -- extends the bed to a full seven feet. The most important part of the Denali XT Concept, however, is its advanced powertrain.
The new old Alexandria
On a warm night, I go off in search of another monument, the el Montaza Palace Gardens, and discover a place I had not planned on visiting. It was too far for a walk from the old city and I didn't feel like taking a trip. But, as I discovered, it is only a long taxi ride along the Corniche to get to this 19th Century palace, which served as the Egyptian royal family's summer home until the 1952 revolution that ended their rule. The palace is surrounded by acres of greenery with walkways curling through leafy public gardens and leading to a delicious looking private beach that belongs to the Helnan Palestine Hotel, a five-star hotel built for an Arab summit in 1964. On this night, crowds of people are gathering here to linger away the evening, many drawn to a wedding at one end of the park.
